Opal and Sunstone Cascade

150.00

We’re back from a mining adventure with beautiful treasures! After visiting the Sunstone mines in Eastern Oregon, our minds are blown, our pockets are full, and I couldn’t wait to start polishing and setting them. This Sunstone has Schiller (the copper inclusions inside) but it is sweetly unique. The copper usually casts a pink glow though this sheeting cascade of schiller presents in silver-blue. The stone itself is a fantastically clear Champagne. Only a rainbow laden Boulder Opal from Australia (old stock) could complete this event that looks like stars falling from a galaxy. Fine Silver holds this universe together and on to your neck.

The Sunstone is left open backed in its Fine Silver setting to let the light shine through. The Sunstone is 3.5 carats and lapped ‘high dome’ so you can really get a good look at the schiller from all angles. The Australian Boulder Opal is 1 carat and is part of old stock that I purchased from the miner over 25 years ago. The Fine Silver is stacked and sculpted to create the topography around the stones. The bail loops are Sterling Silver as well as the hook and loop closure on the 3.5mm Greek leather cord. These stones were sourced in Oregon (except the Opal), hand polished, and the setting fabricated from scratch by Karen Britt. Each piece is a one of a kind piece of art, because no two stones are the same and the settings are created by hand, no two pieces are the same (even the earrings). It should be mentioned that all stones are used in their natural state; never dyed or heated to change their appearance. All the metals used are either recycled or fair, humane trade verified and all components used in the jewelry will return to the earth leaving no footprint. Thank you for enjoying the art.
